Inside the bunker, he plays a video game using technology that the Ukrainian military employs for drone control in identifying enemy positions. Visible on Said’s leg are scars from wounds sustained on a previous mission; he returned to the front lines after only a few months. At the foot of his bed lie his ever-ready rifle, boots, and battle equipment.

The Story Of Preserving Heritage
This is Bengal’s last surviving wooden boat, a majestic relic now nearly extinct. Preserved by the Friendship NGO, the effort to maintain this 93-foot vessel in Bangladesh is a monumental task. It’s a collaborative endeavor that requires 80 people to pile on the left side for repairs, bypassing the usual need for dry land. The boat stands under a towering bamboo scaffold, a unique method in Bengal. Once elevated, carpenters painstakingly replace rotten wood, breathing new life into this vanishing piece of heritage. The preservation of this Malar boat involves a multitude of intricate steps and processes.

Divine Trance
The celebration of Chita Bhasm ki Holi (pyre ash Holi) takes place at Manikarnika Ghat, Varanasi’s epicenter of life and death, where the air is thick with the scent of burning pyres. The deity, garbed in feral tiger skin and adorned with a mundmala (garland of skulls), revels in the ‘last color of life,’ the ash. High on bhang (cannabis), he is oblivious to the world, savoring the pure, uninhibited joy of the moment. It is this enigmatic and overwelming energy that compelled the capture.

Elderly Couple
In a hamburger store, an elderly couple’s faces are momentarily kissed by a stray beam of light. For a fleeting moment, their son, a towering figure, had been blocking the light as he animatedly conversed with them. The moment he steps away from his seat, the light that had been obscured by his back suddenly bathed the couple in a warm glow.
Each individual has a unique role in life’s intricate tapestry. The question then arises: Can we capture the sublime essence of life as vividly as this elderly couple seems to embody it?
