In Romania’s Maramureș, life remains tied to ancient rhythms, largely untouched by industrial modernity. Villages lie half-hidden in greenery, where time slows and silence reigns. Everyday gestures, the sound of a hoe in a garden, a child humming, animals moving in shadow, carry a timeless weight.
From Orthodox chants echoing across monasteries to the bare interiors of village homes, the series reveals a world bound by faith and memory. Mystical and melancholic, these images evoke a landscape where nature, people, and spirituality are inseparably intertwined.
Eyeshot Magazine #20
The fourth Eyeshot Open Call, a reading of contemporary street and documentary photography across continents and approaches. Issue #20 collects six awarded works, single images and series, selected by a jury of seven photographers, editors, and curators. The works move between street observation, documentary practice, intimate portraiture, and political witness, presented as an annual reading of what photography is doing now.
