Format & Approach
Two days alternating theory and practice. Day one began at Eyeshot Studio with portfolio reviews and Minas presenting his projects and references, followed by an afternoon of street practice in Bologna. Day two reviewed the work produced on Saturday, then opened into a longer theoretical session on workflow, post-processing, and editing a series for publication, with a closing Q&A and an optional second practice in the afternoon.

Outcomes
A clearer working method for shooting, editing, and sequencing street photography for publication. Direct conversation about reflections, light, geometry, and the patient daily practice that defines Minas’s approach. A reading of one’s own portfolio from the perspective of a working photographer.

Born in Cassia, Minas Gerais, Brazil, Gustavo Minas moved from journalism into street photography after years between London and Sรฃo Paulo. His work focuses on the human condition within urban space, with particular attention to light, reflections, colour, and geometry. Minas shoots daily, finding the city’s hidden layers in everyday moments. His photographs have been recognised internationally, and he has built a parallel teaching practice alongside his own work. The approach he brought to this workshop combined poetic observation with rigorous technical methodology.

Day 1 (Saturday, 19th October)
10:30 AM – 2 PM: Theoretical Session. Portfolio reviews in group and presentation of Minas’s projects, concepts, and references.
2 PM – 3:30 PM: Lunch break.
3:30 PM – 6:30 PM: Practice on the streets of Bologna.

Day 2 (Sunday, 20th October)
11 AM – 1 PM: Theoretical Session. Review of the work produced during Saturday’s practice.
1 PM – 2:30 PM: Theoretical Session (continued). Workflow, post-processing, editing a series for publication, final Q&A.
2:30 PM – 4 PM: Lunch break.
4 PM onwards: Optional second street practice.

Bologna, Italy. The theoretical sessions were held at Eyeshot Studio (Via Emilia Levante 105/5 A), the same headquarters used for the broader workshop programme. Practical sessions worked through Bologna’s centre, where the rhythm of porticoes and piazzas offered short, dense walking distances and constant exposure to ordinary urban life.
