Sakulchai Sikitikul’s “As it happened”

54,90229,00

“As it Happened” is the first monograph of the Thai street photographer Sakulchai Sikitikul, with a foreword by Mel Breyer. The 110 photographs narrate the ordinary wonders happening in the author’s hometown with acute graphic consciousness.

Street photography is not just going out and shooting everything. Because you walk the same path every day but at different times, anything new can happen. This encourages us to be alert and focused all the time, even though many times you might not get any picture at all. Sakulchai Sikitikul focuses on composition, light, colors, as well as moments, trying to maintain balance within the image.

“As it Happened” comes in two different limited-editions: White Edition and Black Edition. The Black Edition features one unique Fine Art Photograph (30×20 cm) that has never been printed for sales before, and exclusively available through the purchasing of the book only.

The Monograph

“As it Happened”

In his first book “As it Happened”, Sakulchai Sikitikul explores all the possibilities unfolding near his hometown. Social context is put into a personal perspective in his work. In his photographs, there might have been major events, society, people, places, or even small things such as fashion, costumes, how people dressed. The book by Sakulchai Sikitikul expresses the need to document time passing by, and to make these street shots become more than just street shots. The author records his social context and confirms its existence.

The Photographer’s Vision

“My street photography work is not limited to any form, humor, storytelling, shadows or colors. But there is one thing that is above all shooting styles. Choosing to record those moments in the various aspects of the society in which they live.”
