Beyond Here by Alison McCauley

“Beyond Here” is a limited edition book by Alison McCauley, a street and documentary photographer and member of the UP Photographers collective, rooted in an ongoing exploration of place, restlessness, and belonging. The photographs emerge from a state of constant movement, where meaning is not found in arrival, but in the act of searching itself. Working from the position of an outsider, she embraces disorientation as a creative force. The images do not aim to define a location, but rather to reflect an internal landscape — one shaped by curiosity, instability, and a desire to remain open to what cannot be fully understood. Locations shift, perspectives change, yet the emotional undercurrent persists. “Beyond Here” unfolds as an open-ended process: a visual meditation on seeing, on living within uncertainty, and on inhabiting a world that is always in flux, just beyond comprehension.
