Shin Noguchi’s “In Color in Japan”
52,00€ – 229,00€
“In Color In Japan” is the debut book of the award-winning street photographer Shin Noguchi, with an introduction by Chuck Patch.
Featuring 158 powerful images, this collection tells the story of everyday public and private life in Japan, capturing both the beauty and complexity of Japanese society and culture.
Japanese photographers introduced Shin Noguchi to a visual language for expressing the emotions he felt about his native society and culture. He likes to employ recurrent motifs that at times raise an image to metaphorical levels, and people in his street scenes are often faceless, seeming tools of a frantically rushed society.
“In Color In Japan” comes in two different limited-editions: White Edition and Black Edition. The Black Edition features one unique Fine Art Photograph (30×20 cm) that has never been printed for sales before, and exclusively available through the purchasing of the book only.

The Monograph
“In Color In Japan”
“In Color In Japan” is the perfect example of how Shin Noguchi treats the camera as if it were an extension of his body—one that merges hand and eye, allowing him to show us what he sees, and more subtly, how he sees. Like many other Japanese photographers, Noguchi likes to work in an essay format, sometimes planned, at other times a post-hoc thematic exploration. In keeping with his artistic vision, Noguchi chooses to shoot with films.

The Photographer’s Vision
“I don’t want viewers to see my work as art, but it would be great if they could recognize my point of view as a type of art”.
