Vivid Visions: Shin Noguchi’s Colorful Japan

With a selection of 68 revisited photographs from the first edition, rescanned and carefully re-edited to ensure enhanced clarity and visual impact, complemented by 15 new shots, for a total of 83 meticulously curated images, “In Color In Japan: Selected and New Works” represents a refined vision of Shin Noguchi’s dedication to capturing the real Japan.

The redesign of the book itself, with adjustments in design and size, transforms it into an even more desirable object, one that you’ll want to keep close at hand. Whether it’s your first encounter with this collection or you’re revisiting it, this revised edition promises added value and a fresh perspective on Shin Noguchi’s vibrant portrayal of Japan.

Beyond the Lens: Shin Noguchi’s Artistic Vision

“In Color In Japan: Selected and New Works” showcases the world through Shin Noguchi’s eyes, where the camera becomes an extension of the self, blending vision and reality into a singular expression of the moment. This revised edition invites you to engage with the world in its full spectrum, experiencing the unfiltered beauty of life and its myriad hues.
Through a blend of single and multiple viewpoints, Noguchi crafts images that are both a reflection of reality and a window into the soul of a nation.

Like many other Japanese photographers, Noguchi likes to work in an essay format, sometimes planned, at other times as a post-hoc thematic exploration. In keeping with his artistic vision, Shin Noguchi chooses to shoot with films.
Shin’s use of film and his preference for a manual camera underscore a deliberate approach to photography, where each shot is a culmination of anticipation, intuition, and a profound connection with his subject. His dedication to capturing the genuine essence of life through color film emerges from a desire to document the world as it is.

“In Color In Japan: Selected and New Works” transcends the boundaries of traditional street photography, offering a cultural exploration that reveals the complexity and diversity of Japanese society.
