Lukas Vasilikos “Six Degrees of Separation”

54,90229,00

“Six Degrees of Separation” is the first monograph of the Greek photographer Lukas Vasilikos, with a foreword by Hercules Papaioannou. The 130 photographs enter our perceptual habit and reveal the ephemerous theatre of daily life.

Lukas Vasilikos has been practicing for the past fifteen years the penetrating momentary observation and the cosmic loneliness required by street photography. His compositions, from the beach to the square, and from the glamorous shop window to the dog at the top of the tricycle, are often dense with unpredictable contrasts. Occasionally the space thins, the action diminishes, and everything becomes more elliptical.

“Six Degrees of Separation” comes in two different limited-editions: White Edition and Black Edition. The Black Edition features one unique Fine Art Photograph (30×20 cm) that has never been printed for sales before, and exclusively available through the purchasing of the book only.

The Photographer

Lukas Vasilikos

Lukas Vasilikos is a Greek photographer based in Athens, Greece. His almost obsessive dedication to the medium has helped him create an impressive body of work. He started photography in 2006 and soon became an active figure in the worldwide street photography scene, winning various awards along the way. With “Six Degrees of Separation” he stands out as a little magician who penetrates the perceptual habit balancing between the constant availability of the unchanging form and the ephemerous theatre of daily life.

The Monograph

“Six Degrees of Separation”

In each photograph belonging in “Six Degrees of Separation”, the – mainly public – space often appears fragmented with visible or hidden geometries and dynamic divisions. Lukas Vasilikos’ gaze, persistently scanning the foreground and background, focuses on human interactions rather than outlining the broader social context.

The Photographer’s Vision

“I’m interested in depicting the familiar, but in an unfamiliar way. “Memory” and “loss” are two notions that have both general and special meanings, which I also try to approach through my images.”
